La Maison Alex' nestles on the outskirts of Castelnau de Guers a picturesque medieval hilltop village dating back to the 11th century. The village has a bar/restaurant, post office, boulangerie, grocer and tabac. It's renowned for 'La Circuit St Antoine' a 10km walk which explores the village and surroundings with stunning views of vineyards and mountains. Castelnau is a short drive to the beaches the nearest being Marseillan Plage. Cap d'Agde, a 25 mins drive away boasts 'Aqualand' sports park. A short journey north takes you to mountains, lakes and gorges. Lake Salagou is renowned for fresh water swimming and Gorge d'Heric ideal for abseiling, hiking and canoeing. Culture and history are catered for in the nearby towns of Pezenas, Montpellier, Carcassone, Narbonne and Beziers. Pezenas, a renaissance town with its winding cobbled streets housing shops, galleries, bars and restaurants, is a 5 min drive from the village.
So your time here could be as a local tourist exploring the beautiful and historically interesting Languedoc region-or-perhaps just relaxing around the pool soaking up the summer sun or an action holiday where you can go walking, canal boating, cycling, jet skiing or golfing-or- lazing on the nearby beaches-or-a combination of any of these.
The villa itself is very comfortable and veritable home-from-home. It has a well equipped brand new kitchen, an outside BBQ and if you prefer (or if it rains), there is a 32" flat screen TV with UK TV from Freesat and a recorder so you don't have to miss any of your favourite programmes. Wifi is available throughout the house. The living room has recently been refurbished.
We have a Hauck cot for infants/babies - this is rated in the top 5 travel cots by a review in The Independent newspaper. The 10cm thick mattress is very comfortable, complies to all UK and EU standards, and it can be set up in any of the rooms.
The local area boasts a number of attractive foods and drinks to explore - seafood and fish are a local speciality on the coast and the unique Picpoul de Pinet wine compliments fish dishes superbly. There are also many local fruits -local figs are particularly recommended. Try local fig conserve with a fois gras or a smooth pate. The Saturday market in Pezenas is a great source of local produce. Finally the local wines are very good but a very good source of reasonable quality wine at unbelievably good value can be found at the nearby Montagnac Cooperative - you can of course try before you buy.

TERMS: we require a 30% deposit on booking and the balance 6 weeks before your stay. We ask guests to sign a short rental agreement and all payments are receipted. Payment can be GBP or Euros by bank transfer. If you prefer credit card we can arrange a payment by Paypal. If you wish we can arrange for you to speak to former guests for further peace of mind. We have now been renting for over 8 years although not always on this site
